I'm gay and have been in a relationship for over a year. She'd been a close friend of mine for 5 years before that. Now that we're in a relationship she's becoming really selfish and nasty. We lived together for 6 months. In that time she was unemployed and refused to look for work. After we started fighting about money she turned really nasty, abusing me in front of friends, becoming really possessive and causing arguments every time I had to go to school or work. A few weeks ago I moved out. Also she won't listen to my feelings, always cuts me off though she insists I listen to her. She feels that she's a victim in this relationship. That I'm too demanding. She's always telling me that she does everything for me and I don't appreciate her. When I point out that she doesn't do the important things (like work, be nice) she gets angry. We were really good friends and before we moved in together we were going really well. She's the first person I've ever felt really serious about. She's got some real serious issues, an abusive family, ex-girlfriends that have cheated on her and suffers from bad anxiety. She says she doesn't want to break up. Is it worth giving it a chance? I feel like we could work things through but I just don't know how.
