After a decades-long bout with panic disorder, generalized anxiety, depression, alcoholism – and a business career - Bill found his life’s passion and work. So he earned his counseling credentials at the age of 51 and has devoted his life to lending a hand to those having a tough time.
The blending of his clinical knowledge with his disorder experience is a hope and healing dynamo.
The evolution of Bill’s passion is grounded in his emotional and mental health history. And with tons of hard work and drive - and the support of family and friends - he accomplished his recovery; and maintains it.
Bill began to chronicle his disorder and recovery experiences 15 years ago. And the writing ultimately became his panic and anxiety education and recovery eWorkbook, Panic…and Poetic Justice. He expects to have his mood and anxiety ebook ready by the fall of 2010.
In his young career Bill has been involved in a variety of counseling work, including assessment and crisis/suicide intervention. His areas of particular interest are the mood and anxiety disorders, diagnostics, neuroanatomy and physiology, and psychotropic medications.
Though he believes in the existence and power of an unconscious mind, Bill emphasizes the influence of our patterns of thought upon our emotions and behavior. His therapeutic preferences, therefore, lean toward the cognitive and cognitive-behavioral.
Bill started his emotional and mental health blog, chipur, in January of 2010. He likes to refer to it as a haven of sharing, learning, and relief for those enduring depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
In addition to producing chipur, Bill continues to do a lot of writing and remains involved with a variety of emotional and mental health projects.
He lives in the suburbs of Chicago, and values time with his two teenage children.
