Tech Support for Grieving

tech supportThere are certain times of the year that we remember loved ones who have passed away, the holiday season is one of those times. The loss can be fairly new and we stumble around looking for ways to feel connected and to grieve. Or it can be older and we still find ourselves fumbling during the times that highlighted family being together. The question is, can technology be an aid in grieving? 

The feeling of grief can highlight a disconnection from the people who were once alive, but now have passed. At the same time, we long for connection. There are a few websites that I’ve found and pointed people to that allow us to connect with others who knew the deceased and even create a virtual memorial so everyone can stay connected.  

Grief doesn’t have a timetable so this could be an option at any point. 

Sites like, and offer us an option to stay connected to our memories, but also to others who can help share in the grief which ultimately is what is so healing.

What I like about these is they provide an avenue to externalize and process the grief that wasn’t available before. 

It’s helpful at times to hear other’s stories about their relationship with the person who has passed or to stay connected to the family and find ways to support them in time of need. 

The fact is, grief means that we are alive and in being alive we feel best when we’re connected. We are all part of a larger web and inevitably are more connected than we know. 

This is simply a skillful way to reach out and facilitate connection when we need it most.
